Yesterday I published The Same Page, a home–school framework for screens and edtech in elementary and middle school. The free post made the argument. This one makes it usable.

What you’ll find below is each of the five touch points opened up: what the move actually is, what it looks like in a third-grade classroom and in a seventh-grade one, where it goes wrong, and which piece of research it rests on. At the bottom are two PDFs. The Leader Toolkit is eleven pages of fillable worksheets, one per touch point, with a worked example on each, a year-plan page, and a research page that maps every move to its evidence. The Family Pack is five pages your school hands to parents: a four-question test for any app, a conference prep sheet, a home agreement written with the child, and a plain-language summary of what the research says. Both are built on the same eight sources as the free post, and both are fillable, so you can type into them, save them, and send them.

I want to be clear about something before we start. Everything in these toolkits assumes you already have a technology practice worth describing. The Recalibration Framework (see below) does that work, and its summer checklist is where to go if the readiness check on page two of the Leader Toolkit comes back with more than one blank. The touch points are the family-facing layer of a purposeful program. They can’t substitute for one.
